Did you find what you were looking for?

What we look for in stories and how it changes throughout a lifetime

Some people read to self-soothe. Others crave a glimpse of life outside of themselves. Many seek to learn something highly specific. Some are trying to tap into long lost strains of emotion. Some people read because it’s required for work or school (oh, the joy-sucking dread of requirement).

More often than not, the reasons we read overlap and change throughout a lifetime.

In the long overdue final podcast installment of my convo with Sarah about reading slowly, we touch on the ‘first read’ feeling, reading as pleasure versus reading as work, and all the different things folks look for in stories.
